Who We Are
We are an international network of Open Learning Schools with an innovative educational proposal, of high performance and assured quality, based on solid values and with the experience of some of the best pedagogues in the world.
Inspired by Escola da Ponte (Portugal) and Escola Aberta de São Paulo (Brazil), this model of education departs from the traditional model, with no formal classroom structure with classes, subjects, and serial classrooms.
Our network is maintained by the Vermilion Group, which for 13 years has been dedicated to the education market, present in more than 9 countries and 4 continents, with a history of commitment and responsibility for the training of global citizens.

Educator, anthropologist, and pedagogue, born in Portugal and creator of Escola da Ponte.
Edilene Morikawa
Co-Founder and Pedagogical Coordinator Brazil
She is an educator, consultant in innovative education, lecturer, and founder of Escola Aberta de São Paulo.
Mónica Antunes
International Pedagogical Coordinator
With vast experience in early childhood education, Mónica is the Pedagogical Director of Open Learning in Portugal.

Founder
He is the founder of Open Learning and wants to make Open Learning School the standard pedagogy in schools around the world.

Children are encouraged to develop and seek their autonomy from birth, and it is up to us to give them the freedom and tools to develop it. With growing autonomy comes self-confidence, self-control, self-esteem, and the development of critical thinking.

We recognize the importance of being respectful and cultivating the exercise of empathy. Thus, we will understand and lovingly accept the other person in their individuality, treating them as we would like to be treated, without offenses or discrimination. This is one of the premises for living together in harmony.

With the awareness that responsibility involves all of us to contribute to a common good, we assume an attitude of accountability, cooperation, and integrity. Therefore, we are responsible for our surroundings – environment, animal and human, family, community.

We try to help each other, not only as a family, but also with friends, educators, and the local community. In order to act, it is important to know the desires and needs. There is a responsibility to understand that we are all interconnected and interdependent on the planet.
