FAQs

If there are no traditional classrooms, does that mean learning never happens in groups?

Our students are grouped according to their level of autonomy into four learning groups. We don’t use the traditional classroom system based on age or subject-specific knowledge.

English instruction has two main goals: to prepare students to use the language in everyday situations and to help them obtain an international certification. All activities focus on developing speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills, while also promoting cultural understanding and the use of English as a communication tool.

Yes, children learn all the content covered in regular schooling—and much more. Our educators closely follow not only academic progress, but also students’ social-emotional development and their engagement with the surrounding environment through community-based research and projects.

We have a dedicated curriculum for social-emotional development. We create a variety of learning experiences that encourage students to interact and solve challenges cooperatively. Problems are seen as learning opportunities and are addressed through our core values: love, respect, and empathy.

We do not use traditional tests as a method of evaluation, as we believe they are often ineffective, increase anxiety, and waste valuable student time. Instead, we use other assessment strategies such as continuous portfolio monitoring, evaluations by educators and specialists, feedback from families, and student self-assessments, among others.

Our students follow the national curriculum content but often progress more quickly than in traditional schools. Many complete a full academic year in under 12 months and move on to the next stage as soon as they’re ready. This allows for more personalized and accelerated learning.

Students engage in activities for an average of five and a half hours per day. Some of this time involves working with physical materials like books and notebooks to limit screen time. Instead of traditional classes, students take part in research sessions, tutorials, group meetings, evaluations, workshops, and other types of learning moments—each with a clear educational purpose.

Ajudamos os alunos a desenvolver projetos e pesquisas. Eles assumem um papel ativo na busca de conhecimento, recorrendo a livros, sites, aplicações, vídeos, podcasts, experiências, entrevistas e visitas a locais relevantes.

Yes. We support students in preparing for university entrance exams, if that’s the path chosen together with the family. We live in a time full of opportunities, and we encourage students to explore different futures—whether that means attending university, starting their own business, investing, or pursuing another meaningful path.

Tuition is R$3,480 per month. Please contact us to find out if you may be eligible for a discount.

Each student must have their own computer and a mobile phone. If the child is too young to have their own phone, they should have access to one in order to upload physical notebooks to the cloud. Basic school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, erasers, pens, etc., are also needed. We don’t ask for unnecessary materials.

To return to traditional schooling, the family must inform the new school that the student was engaged in homeschooling. The school may request the student’s records from their last formal institution and may administer placement tests. Open Learning School Connect is a support program and does not issue official documents—those must come from the last regular school attended.
